when I installed the fuel pump into the car the car started up fine. it may have taken a few tries to get the car to start but the fuel level is not reading correct and I'm just curious on an Audi a4 2004 1 .8 liter(this fuel pump is located behind the passenger side back seat in the trunk and uses a model number E8476M) what direction is the fuel pump supposed to face I'm guessing it's supposed to face more towards the rear wheel passenger side 9 to 10 o'clock? Hopefully there is an Audi guru out there that can help me with this because unfortunately there is very little information on how to install fuel pumps on this model of vehicle on the Internet. furthermore if there are any other tips or suggestions feel free to add thank you

Installation is the reverse of removal. It only goes in one way, the wiring harness only fits one way, and the same thing with the lines. If the gauge is not reading right, the sender could be shot.

I jumped on the site to have help with questions that's why I ask for someone that has extensive knowledge with audi. it appears as if the last person or company that repaired the fuel pump had a mark on the reservoir that I want to be sure as of the position is supposed to sit. by the way I'm positive the fuel pump was bad whentrying to start the car i put my head up next to it its not making noise. checked the relay and I have power. even went as far to hookup a pressure gauge on the fuel line to make sure that the pump wasn't pumping when the car was energized

Are you SURE you have a bad fuel pump??? Why can;'t you remember the position of the fuel pump?? they usually go in ONE WAY ONLY!• YOu can tell from the wiring harness and the way it connects. How could you make a mistake with it?
