Hallo Folks. A friend of mine owns Audi A4 year 2007. He asked me to help him trace the causes of the problem. Am not a mechanic yahoo answers is where I get all the solutions to my problems when I happen to have one. Sincerely 90% of my problems is solved with the help of you lovely strangers that I may call brothers and sisters in problem solving.

He told me that the driver side seat belt alarm goes on even when the sit belt is buckled but goes away when he pulls the seat belt a little bit forward. What could be the cause? Is it the wiring? Or could it be the seat belt sensor? Could it be the buckle itself? Where do you think the sensor is located if its the sensor? Does he have to change the whole seat belt? Finally will the main computer show the cause of the problem? If yes. Will paper clip trick work with this new car? Hope I did't asked a lot of questions. He is asking this cause he told me he can't afford a mechanic while maybe he can fix the car by himself. Thank you in advance.

Squirt some WD40 into the buckle in case it's a dirty contact. It won't do any harm and will eliminate this possibility.

If your other answer (WD40) does not do the trick it might be best to remove the buckle in its entirety , carefully unplugging the wiring from under the seat and then source a used item from a breakers or e bay.You could of course, simply disconnect the wiring and not have the warning light at all. Its not part of an MOT.
