Hello. I am interested in the latest Audi R8, but I am a full automatic driver and cannot drive Manual AT ALL, for you driving experts out there, do you think I would be able to drive their "R-tronic" R8?Or would I face a lot of difficulties?

Thank you very much for answering my question!

The R-tronic transmission is a manual transmission at heart but the vehicle uses electronics to operate the clutch and shifter for you. Driving the car is easy but getting used to the transmission is a different story. Its not a typical automatic transmission. It feels like when you're driving with another person in a manual car. You never actually know when the car is going to shift and when it does, (depending on throttle angle and load) it can surprise you. Eventually you will learn when its going shift but be ready for a little bit of discomfort at first. At full throttle, you wont be disappointed!

You can drive it. It has a fully automatic mode. Or you can shift it over to a manual mode where all you have to do it hit the shifter up or down to shift. There is now clutch pedal, the car operates the clutch for you. Or you can use the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. But there's nothing like shifter the manually version in the aluminum H-gate and hearing the "Clang" when shifting. You will not be disappointed with that car, auto or manual.

The better question would be, would it be more fun to drive a manual or an automatic. Personally I would always drive a car with manual transmission, no matter the make or model. So to answer your question manual would be more fun. If it doesn't have a clutch pedal. Then its still an automatic.

On a UK automatic licence, the deciding factor is the clutch pedal: If the car has no clutch, you can drive it, regardless of whether the gearbox is fully automatic, semi automatic or clutchless manual.

It can be fully automatic as stated above, but really you can't just learn how to drive standard? Its not that hard.

Yes, you could drive it. you just press the shifter up and down , no clutch involved. Hope you have $120,000 to buy one.

Hello

If the car requires you to tell it when to change gear you do not have the relevant licence.

Even if it has full automatic mode available.
